Registration Process

Currently Enrolled: Children who are currently enrolled at A Child’s Way are guaranteed placement in our school the next year. However, we cannot always guarantee morning placement. Once currently enrolled children are placed, we will place any siblings of enrolled children and then alumni. We will place children in the same family together in the morning or the afternoon if at all possible. If too many children are registered for a morning class, we will have an in-school lottery to determine class placement. Waiting lists for morning placement will be determined by lottery.
Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten placement is the exception to this policy. We will enroll 22 children in our Kindergarten class. Kindergarten placement will be determined by the child’s longevity in our school and then by the family’s longevity in our school. Pre-Kindergarten placement is first available to the children in our Pre-Fours classes. Placement in the remaining Pre-Kindergarten openings will be determined by teacher recommendation. Parents of four year olds who are considering placement in Pre-Kindergarten need to conference with their child’s teacher about this option before registration occurs.
Class placement is not based on a first-come, first-served basis. Rather we will wait until all applications are received on the designated date and time before making class placements.
New Families:
A new parent information meeting will be scheduled for mid-January. This meeting is primarily intended for parents who children are not currently enrolled at A Child’s Way. At this meeting we will present a general overview of our school, explaining the school’s philosophy and the curriculum we offer. Parents will then be able to meet in smaller groups with individual teacher representing the age group in which parents are interested. New parents will able be able to complete a lottery application form for the next school year. An application fee will be collected and accompany the lottery application form. The lottery application form can be completed that evening. Parents who cannot attend this meeting should obtain a lottery application form from our office during the designated open enrollment period. Those applications need to be submitted by the designated date and time. Applicants will be notified of their placement by mail.
